This is the final report of the Thirty-second Session of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC) hosted by the Ministry for Agriculture and Rural Development, Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and convened in Da Nang, Viet Nam, on 20–22 September 2012. The principal objectives of the 32nd Session were to review Member countries’ progress on the recommendations of the previous session of the Commission and emerging regional policy issues in fisheries and aquaculture. The Commission considered the status of fisheries and aquaculture in the Asia-Pacific region and the outcomes and recommendations of the fourth APFIC Regional Consultative Forum Meeting. The Commission was informed of the work undertaken by APFIC regarding ways to strengthen assessments in fisheries and aquaculture to improve management and the adaptation and mitigation of climate change in fisheries and aquaculture. The Commission reviewed its work over the past biennium and endorsed the major themes and activities of APFIC in the forthcoming biennium of work (2012–2014), including the APFIC Strategy 2012–2018. The Commission was also informed of the work programmes of other regional organizations competent in fisheries and aquaculture and how they relate to the work of APFIC. In its recommendations, the Commission highlighted: the importance of aquatic products, especially from inland fisheries, and their role in nutrition; the collaborative development of a regional training course on the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries; the threat of transboundary disease in aquatic animals; and the need to improve reporting on the FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries (CCRF).

This is the final report of the Thirty-first Session of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC), held in Jeju Island, Republic of Korea from 6 to 8 September 2010. Major topics discussed were: the status and potential of fisheries and aquaculture in Asia and the Pacific; overview report of the outcomes of the Third APFIC Regional Consultative Forum Meeting, member country reports on developments and responses to APFIC recommendations; ecosystems approaches to management, regional initiatives in promoting resilient livelihoods; inland fisheries resources enhancement and conservation in Asia, emerging issues in fisheries and aquaculture and major issues for APFIC focus of work in biennium 2011–2012.

This is the final report of the Thirtieth Session of APFIC that was held in Manado, North Sulawesi, Indonesia from 11 to 13 August 2008. major topics discussed were: Overview of the Status and Potential of Fisheries and Aquaculture in Asia and the Pacific; APFIC's strategy and promotion of regional initiatives for more effective fisheries management; Regional themes on: Certification in Fisheries and Aquaculture & Capacity management and combating IUU fishing: Policy, Emerging Issues and Impmelentation of CCRF and the APFIC work plan for the next bienniu (2009 - 2010).

The Twenty-ninth Session of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC) heralded a new direction for APFIC. After a lengthy review, the Commission agreed that APFIC could best serve its members by becoming a regional consultative forum that would provide a neutral platform to examine issues and develop solutions affecting the sustainable development of fisheries and aquaculture across Member Nations. It also agreed that the Session should be preceded by a major Regional Consultative Forum Meeting based on inter-sessional workshops on selected issues. This Session was the first to consider the outcomes of that process and the outputs from the first Regional Consultative Forum Meeting held in Kuala Lumpur, 16-19 August 2006. This is the final report of the twenty-eight session of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC) held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 3 to 5 August 2004. The session was attended by representatives of 15 members of the Commission. Major topics discussed were: overview of the status and potential of fisheries and aquaculture in Asia and the Pacific; APFIC's potential as a consultative forum for fishery issues; an analysis of gaps and opportunities in regional arrangements for fisheries; and the APFIC work plan for 2004-2010.

Report of the proceedings of the 19 to 21 September 2001 session held in Manila, Philippines and attended by representatives from Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States of America and Viet Nam. This is the final report of the Twenty-sixth Session of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC), held in Beijing, PR China from 24-30 September, 1998. Major topics discussed were : fish utilization in the Asia-Pacific region; current issues on capture fisheries in Asia and the Pacific; issues related to the development of sustainable aquaculture; achievement of APFIC and its future direction; merger of the BOBC and APFIC; the restructuring of APFIC subsidiary bodies and regional fishery cooperative projects.

This is the final version of the Twenty-Fifth Session of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC) held in Seoul, Korea, from 15 to 24 October 1996. Major topics discussed were; environmental aspects of responsible fisheries; the state of fisheries and aquaculture in Asia and the Pacific; future role of APFIC in fishery management in the region; and the proposed amendments to the APFIC Agreement and Rules of Procedure.

1993 Report of the Twenty-fourth Session of the Indo-Pacific Fishery Commission. This is the final report of the Twenty-seventh Session of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC), held in Manila, Philippines from 19-21 September 2001. Major topics discussed were: reports of the ad hoc working groups of experts; report of the executive committee and the future direction of APFIC.

1990 Report of the Twenty-third Session of the Indo-Pacific Fisheries Commission. This-is the final version of the report of the Twenty-third Session of the Indo-Pacific Fishery Commission (IPFC), held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 14 to 24 May 1990. Major topics discussed were: artificial reefs and fish aggregating devices as resource enhancement and fisheries management tools; status and prospects of the fisheries sector in Asia and the Pacific; matters referred for the attention of the Commission; and a review of the structure, functions and responsibilities of IPFC and its subsidiary bodies including amendments to the terms of reference.

1987 Report of the Twenty-second Session of the Indo-Pacific Fisheries Commission. This is the final version of the report of the Twenty-second Session of the Indo-Pacific Fishery Commission (IPFC), held in Darwin, Australia, from 16 to 26 February 1987. Major topics discussed were: the exploitation and management of marine fishery resources in Southeast Asia, trends of fisheries in the region, the development of fish utilization and marketing in the IndoPacific Region, progress in the implementation of the Strategy and Programmes of Action of the FA0 World Conference on Fisheries Management and Development, matters related to functions and responsibilities of the PFC Standing Committee on Resource Research and Development (SCORRAD), future inter-sessional activities of the Commission, subjects for symposia at future sessions and cooperation with other bodies dealing with fisheries in the Indo-Pacific region. A list of the main decisions, directives and recommendations are listed in Appendix D.

1984 Report of the Twenty-first Session of the Indo-Pacific Fisheries Commission. This is the final version of the report of the twenty-first Session of the Indo-Pacific Fishery Commission (IPFC), held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 10 to 15 December 1984. Major topics discussed were the trends in fisheries in the region, the follow-up to the FAO World Conference on Fisheries Management and Development, matters related to functions and responsibilities of IPFC, proposals for future inter-sessional activities, and subjects for symposia at future sessions. A list of the main reconmendations of the session is included as Appendix G.

1982 Report of the Twentieth Session of the Indo-Pacific Fisheries Commission.[ joint Report of the seventh Session of the Indian Ocean Fishery Commission (IOFC)]. The final formal report of the joint meeting of the seventh session of the Indian Ocean Fishery Commission (IOFC) and the twentieth session of the Indo-Pacific Fishery Commission (IPFC), held in Kuta Beach, Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, from 11 to 18 November 1982 is presented. Major topics were a review of the-activities of the subsidiary bodies of IOFC and of IPFC, a general debate on the situation and prospects of fisheries in the region, opportunities and needs for regional cooperation, a review of some regional technical assistance programmes, future of Indian Ocean Fishery Commission and Indo-Pacific Fishery Commission and the FAO World Conference on Fisheries Manaqement and Development. A list of major decisions and recommendations of the joint meeting is included as Appendix D. The portions of the report relating to IOFC and IPFC separately were also endorsed respectively by the Commissions.

The report on the eighteenth meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council and IPFC Symposium on Fish Utilization Technology and Marketing in the IPFC Region, held in Manila, Philippines from the 8th to 17th March, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: fish utilization technology and marketing, national and intergovernmental activities, research and statistics and tuna management.

The report on the eighteenth meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council and IPFC Symposium on Fish Utilization Technology and Marketing in the IPFC Region, held in Manila, Philippines from the 8th to 17th March, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: fish utilization technology and marketing, national and intergovernmental activities, research and statistics and tuna management.

The report on the seventeenth meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council and IPFC Symposium on the Development and Utilization of Inland Fishery Resources, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from the 27th to 1st November, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: development and utilization of inland fishery resources, research and statistics, management, increasing production and improving utilization and distribution of fish in the IPFC region and national and intergovernmental activities.

The report on the sixteenth meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council and IPFC Symposium – Indian Ocean Fishery Commission on the on the Economic and Social Aspects of National Fisheries Planning and Development, held in Jakarta, Indonesia from the 30th to 8th November, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: economic and social aspects of national fisheries planning, problems pertaining to small scale fisheries, aquaculture and environment and economics, resources appraisal management and international and regional programs.

The report on the sixteenth meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council, held in Wellington, New Zealand from the 18th to 27th October, is presented. Among the topics discussed were:coastal and high seas pelagic resources, coastal aquaculture and environment, resource appraisal and stocks and international and regional programs.

The report on the fourteenth meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council, held in Bangkok, Thailand from the 18th to 27th November, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: coastal aquaculture, management of common-use resources and development of fishing potential, cooperative study of the Kuroshio, international Indian Ocean fishery survey and development programme, South China Sea fishery development programme and the interrelationship between IPFC and IOFC.

The report on the thirteenth meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council, held in Bangkok, Thailand from the 14th to 15th October, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: demersal fisheries, coastal aquaculture, coastal and high seas pelagic resources and the structure and function of regional fisheries offices.

The report on the twelfth meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council, held in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, from the 3rd to 17th October, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: fishing craft and gear, fish utilization, socio-economics, marketing and statistics.

The report on the eleventh meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from the 16th to 31st October, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: induced spawning of fish, South China Sea and Sunda Shelf, Cooperative study of the Kuroshio, international Indian Ocean Expedition, UNESCO regional meeting, Rastrelliger, tuna, shrimps, pollution, unit fisheries, boat building training centre and weather forecasting.

The report on the tenth meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council, held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from the 10th to 25th October, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: craft and gear, fish processing technology, socio-economics, statistics and fish marketing.

The report on the ninth meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council, held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from the 6th to 23rd October, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: craft and gear, food technology, socio-economics, statistics and fish marketing.

The report on the eighth meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from the 6th to 22nd December, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: technology and economics, publications and technical assistance.

The report on the seventh meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council, held in Bandung, Indonesia, from the 13th to 27th May, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: technology and economics, Indo-Pacific fisheries year, technical assistance and publications and documentation.

The report on the sixth meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council, held in Tokyo, Japan, from the 30th September to 14th October, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: inland fisheries, Hilsa investigations, Chanos investigations, food and feeding of fishes, sea fisheries, miscellaneous fisheries and general biology and conservation of living resources of the sea.

The report on the fifth meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from the 22nd January to 5th February, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: hydrology, plankton, tuna and oceanic fisheries, inshore fisheries, seaweeds and sundry fisheries, fish culture, Hilsa, taxonomy, craft and gear, food technology, socio-economics and marketing and statistics.

The report on the fourth meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council, held in Quezon City, Philippines from the 23rd January to 7th February, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: hydrology, planktology, biology, gear technology, food technology, socio-economics and statistics.

The report on the third meeting of The Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council, held in Madras, India from the 1st to 16 th February, is presented. Among the topics discussed were: tuna fisheries, neritic pelagic fisheries, fish culture, planktonology, hydrology, taxonomy and seaweeds.
